Library Collection

The Anselmo Library has a collection ranging from general to specialized print and non-print materials that support all programs of study. The Library employs the Library of Congress Classification and Subject Heading system with a unique call number assigned to each print and audiovisual material.

Circulating Collection
Books circulate for two weeks and may be renewed for one week. Books must be returned to the Circulation Desk during regular library hours, or can be placed in the book drop boxes when the library is closed. To check out materials, library users must have a valid Quincy College Photo ID.

Fines
Overdue book items$.10 per day, per item ($10.00 Maximum)
Overdue AV items$1.00 per day, per item ($10.00 Maximum)
Overdue ILL items$1.00 per day, per item (No Maximum)
Lost items Cost of item, plus $10.00 processing fee

Reference Collection
Consists of guides, indexes, directories, handbooks, atlases, and other sources to locate specific facts or materials. Reference materials do not circulate.

Periodical Collection
The library's current print collection consists of over 140 journals and magazines in all subject areas. Items from the print collection do not circulate. Library users may make photocopies of articles at $.20 a page. The library also subscribes to several online journal article databases which hold thousands of full-text articles.

Reserve Collection
Required textbooks for most classes are at the library circulation desk. Other course materials set aside at the request of instructors for course use are also held at the front desk. Reserve materials are limited to library use on a two hour basis. Valid Quincy College Photo ID is required.

Audiovisual Collection
Telecourses, videotapes and dvds are available on a variety of subjects. Video materials circulate for a period of 3 days. Valid Quincy College Photo ID is required. Audiovisual equipment is available in the library for viewing.

Online Catalog(OPAC)
Library users can search the web-based catalog to locate print and non-print materials in the Quincy College Library Collection. The online catalog is accessible from any computer with internet access. The catalog can be accessed from the library homepage at http://www.quincycollegelibrary.org.

Photocopy Machines
Two copy machines are available in the main library room for library users. Photocopies are $.20 per page. Copyright Law applies.

Learning Center
Quincy College's NiCastro Learning Center is located in Newport Hall 254. Students who need tutoring should contact the Learning Center at 617-984-1664.

Computer Lab
Computers with internet access are available for library users with valid Quincy College Photo ID. Printing is available for $.05 per page. During busy times, priority is given to students using computers for coursework.

Library Services

Reference
Librarians are available to assist library users with reference and research questions. Users who wish to set up a research appointment may inquire at the front desk. Students or instructors who cannot come to the library in person may also e-mail reference questions to help@quincycollegelibrary.org.

Bibliographic Instruction
Instructors may schedule group or individual instruction for specific research topics or courses, as well as general Library orientations. See For Instructors page for more information. Periodically, workshops on how to use the library will also be made available to all library users.

Interlibrary Loan
Quincy College students, instructors, or staff who need materials that are not available at Anselmo Library may make requests though interlibrary loan. See Interlibrary Loan for more information.
